Baseball Recap: Thurston-Cuming County Continues Road Dominance on Thursday

Thurston-Cuming County's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top against the Centennial Broncos by a score of 6-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). Thurston-Cuming County hasn't had any issues with Centennial recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Jake Schuster made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alex Roth, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Zander Welsh also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Thurston-Cuming County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Centennial only posted a batting average of .143.

Thurston-Cuming County's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Centennial, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.
