Basketball Game Preview: Milford Mill Academy Millers vs. Poly Engineers

Two dominant guards in Tatyana Fields and London Elliot are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Milford Mill Academy Millers will host the Poly Engineers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Milford Mill Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They walked away with a 54-44 victory over Dulaney. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Millers.

Meanwhile, Poly had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.3 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They came out on top against the Rams by a score of 62-55.

Poly found their leader in sophomore Elliot, who posted 25 points in addition to seven steals and six assists. Elliot is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Pope, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine boards.

Poly smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Poly's win bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Milford Mill Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 21-4.
