The Fairfax Stampede will take on the North Mustangs at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Fairfax was handed a 13-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They skirted past Ironwood 6-5.
Alexander Tovar made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Fairfax is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-7 otherwise. Tovar was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Tovar wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Alaniz, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Alaniz is becoming a predictor of Fairfax's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 3-8 when he doesn't).
Meanwhile, North had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Metro Tech on Friday, sneaking past 4-3.
Joey Morales spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
North's win bumped their record up to 3-10. As for Fairfax, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.
North's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fairfax hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .344. It's a different story for North, though, as they've only averaged .175. Will they be able to contain Fairfax's hitters?
Fairfax took their win against North in their previous matchup back in February by a conclusive 15-5 score. Will the Stampede repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
