Football Recap: De Smet Jesuit Finds Home Field Redemption Against Edwardsville

There's no place like home for De Smet Jesuit, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They took down the Edwardsville Tigers 30-15 on Friday. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

Edwardsville's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dean Williams, who rushed for 104 yards, and also threw for 133 yards on ten of 19 attempts. Brandon Houston Jr. was another key back, rushing for 91 yards on only seven carries.

De Smet Jesuit has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.0 points over those games. As for Edwardsville, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Looking ahead, De Smet Jesuit will welcome Marquette at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a four-game losing streak. Edwardsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
