Basketball Game Preview: Metter Tigers vs. Jenkins County War Eagles

The Metter Tigers will head out to square off against the Jenkins County War Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Metter has eight straight victories, Jenkins County has 19 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Metter is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Montgomery County: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Metter blew Montgomery County out of the water with a 56-22 final score. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 159th, while the Eagles are ranked 521st), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Jenkins County came up short against McIntosh County Academy on Saturday and fell 34-22.

Metter pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Jenkins County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-18.

Metter strolled past Jenkins County when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a score of 48-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Metter since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
