Football Recap: Sundown Comes Up Short

Sundown played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 41-12 loss at the hands of the New Deal Lions. The Roughnecks have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Dallas Sumner was the offensive standout of the game as he threw for 93 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 54 yards on only five carries. Those 54 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Jackson Attebury, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Sundown's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for New Deal, they now have a winning record of 2-1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sundown will challenge Roosevelt at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for New Deal, they will take on Lubbock Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
