Baseball Recap: Madisonville-North Hopkins Extends Winning Streak to Three

Madisonville-North Hopkins had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against the Trigg County Wildcats by a score of 6-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 back in April.

Evan Lear spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Madisonville-North Hopkins saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryder Sandidge, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases. The Maroons are undefeated when Sandidge posts two or more stolen bases, but 7-11 otherwise. Jerin Bottoms was another, earning two runs and two stolen bases.

Madisonville-North Hopkins' win bumped their record up to 17-11. As for Trigg County, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-9 record.

Madisonville-North Hopkins and Trigg County could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings. The Maroons (ranked 107th) will meet Owensboro Catholic (ranked 35th) at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Trigg County will challenge Lyon County at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (133 vs. 26).
