Recap: Mart vs. Refugio

Mart won the last time they faced Refugio, and things went their way on Friday, too. Mart made easy work of Refugio and carried off a 41-8 victory. Followers of Mart probably expected little less of the team in a season in which they have collected four blowout victories.

Mart's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 28 points in the first half. Meanwhile, Refugio couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 28-0 heading into the break. The Mart defense stood its ground in the third quarter, giving up 0 and all but finishing the matchup.

Junior Kyler Martin was the offensive standout of the match for Mart, as he picked up 77 yards on the ground and threw 2 TDs. In fact, with 11 tackles Martin was a force on both sides of the ball. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse senior Shatydrick Bailey, who racked up ten tackles. The win bumped Mart's record up to 4-1. The loss dropped Refugio's record to 3-2.

Mart will have some time to rest before their next match, which is against Meridian in two weeks at 7:30 PM. Meridian are limping into the game on a five-game losing streak. Refugio will be staying on the road, facing off against Kaufer. Kaufer are limping into the game on a six-game losing streak.
