Preview: Copley Indians vs. Roosevelt Rough Riders
Copley has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Roosevelt Rough Riders at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Copley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Roosevelt likes a good challenge.
In what's become a running theme this season, Copley gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 56-28 win over McKinley. Given Copley's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while McKinley is ranked 226th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Copley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Izzy Callaway, who scored 15 points. Callaway has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kami Ayoup, who scored 13 points.
Roosevelt posted their closest victory yet this season on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Field and snuck past 48-46. The win made it back-to-back wins for Roosevelt.
Copley's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points per game. As for Roosevelt, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Everything came up roses for Copley against Roosevelt in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 70-31 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Copley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
