Baseball Game Preview: Richmond Blue Devils vs. North Branch Broncos

The Richmond Blue Devils will take on the North Branch Broncos at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Richmond sitting on 21 straight victories and North Branch on four.

Richmond took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Chippewa Valley, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Blue Devils had just enough and edged out the Big Reds 2-1.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Branch). They put the hurt on Millington with a sharp 17-2 win on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Kyler Goss and Noah Wright did most of the damage at the plate: Goss got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and four RBI, while Wright went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave Wright a new career-high. Hoyt Barnes was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases and three runs.

North Branch always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .757. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Richmond's record now sits at 22-1. As for North Branch, their record is now 5-6.
