Football Recap: Raymond Comes Up Short at Home Against Port Gibson

Raymond unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Port Gibson Blue Waves by a score of 8-6 on Friday. The Rangers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Waves apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Raymond lost, don't look at Cj Martin. Despite the final result, he rushed for 173 yards and one score. The Rangers also got a significant boost from Alexander Woods, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 102 yards.

Coming up, Raymond will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Crystal Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Port Gibson, they will be playing at home against Jim Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
