Baseball Recap: Magnolia Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Loara, Magnolia was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Anaheim Colonists. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-2 on Tuesday.

Gabriel Segura made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alex Zuniga, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. He has become a key player for Magnolia: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-9 otherwise.

Magnolia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Magnolia's record now sits at 14-9. As for Anaheim, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-10.

Looking ahead, Magnolia will welcome Century at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The Centurions' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Sentinels' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Anaheim, they will square off against Valencia at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
