Loyd Star won the last time they faced Wesson and things went their way on Monday too. The Loyd Star Hornets came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wesson Cobras, sneaking past 3-1.

Layla Burt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. What's more, she gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Loyd Star's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Adi Holcomb, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Holcomb has posted since back in April of 2024. Ainsley Gennaro was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Loyd Star's win bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Wesson, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-2.

Looking ahead, it'll be a Battle of the Bugs Loyd Star Hornets face off against Enterprise Yellowjackets at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Loyd Star's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Enterprise's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Wesson, they will challenge South Pike at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
