Softball Game Preview: Valley Vista Monsoon vs. Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions

The Valley Vista Monsoon will challenge the Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with nine consecutive losses for Valley Vista and four for Mountain Ridge.

Valley Vista came up short against Shadow Ridge on Thursday, falling 26-1.

Meanwhile, Mountain Ridge faced O'Connor in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Mountain Lions lost 10-3 to the Eagles.

Mountain Ridge saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daisy Herrera, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Another was Italia Carpio, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Valley Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Mountain Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 14-9.

Valley Vista was able to grind out a solid win over Mountain Ridge in their previous meeting back in March of 2018, winning 10-6. Do the Monsoon have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mountain Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
