Football Recap: Concordia Lutheran Takes a Loss

Concordia Lutheran entered their game against St. Thomas Catholic on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Crusaders fell 20-15 to the Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 413th, while the Eagles are ranked 122nd).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Thomas Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Myles Stewart, who rushed for 96 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries. Stewart got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 56 yards. Javaughn Waldron was another key back, rushing for 68 yards and one score on only nine carries.

Concordia Lutheran's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for St. Thomas Catholic, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Concordia Lutheran will host Antonian Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Thomas Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Michael's at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' defense better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 37.4 points per game this season.
