Basketball Game Preview: Ellet Orangemen vs. North Vikings

Ellet has gone 10-0 against North recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Ellet Orangemen will be playing at home against the North Vikings at 6:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Monday.

North will be up against a hot Ellet squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. Everything went Ellet's way against Buchtel on Thursday as Ellet made off with a 70-44 victory. Given the Orangemen's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while the Griffins are ranked 561st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Caitlyn Holmes continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 8 for 10 en route to 17 points in addition to six steals and five boards. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kenadie Keith, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 12 points along with six assists and four steals.

Ellet smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 15 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North). They put the hurt on East with a sharp 71-45 win on Thursday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Vikings as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Ellet's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2. As for North, their victory ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-13.

Everything came up roses for Ellet against North in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the team secured an 85-24 win. In that contest, Ellet amassed a halftime lead of 47-13, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Monday.
