Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Alyson Mata and Izabela Tapia Lead Crystal City to Victory

Crystal City was handed a 22-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Natalia Mustangs 51-48. The Javelinas have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mustangs, too.

Crystal City was led to victory by Izabela Tapia and Alyson Mata. Tapia dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards, while Mata posted ten points and six steals. Tapia continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Crystal City now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Natalia, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-6.

Crystal City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-47 loss against Jourdanton on the 13th. As for Natalia, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 37-19 victory against Cotulla on the 13th.
