Softball Recap: Boulder City Wins High-Profile Game Against Moapa Valley

On Wednesday, Boulder City faced Moapa Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Boulder City Eagles never let the Moapa Valley Pirates get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. The Eagles have beaten the Pirates the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Pirates has come to flipping the script.

Payton Rogers made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kylie Czubernat, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hayden Nordstrom, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Boulder City's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Moapa Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Looking ahead, Boulder City will face off against Blackfoot at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Moapa Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Valley has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 20.4 runs per game on average), something Moapa Valley will no doubt try to take advantage of.
