Preview: Academe of the Oaks Firebirds vs. Providence Classical Christian Warriors
The Academe of the Oaks Firebirds will head out on the road to take on the Providence Classical Christian Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Academe of the Oaks is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
While Academe of the Oaks couldn't quite beat Providence Classical Christian two weeks ago, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 78-point defeat they were dealt back in December of 2023. Academe of the Oaks fell just short of Providence Classical Christian by a score of 57-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Academe of the Oaks bumped their record down to 0-6 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.1 points per game. As for Providence Classical Christian, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
Academe of the Oaks couldn't quite finish off Providence Classical Christian when the teams last played two weeks ago and fell 57-55. Can Academe of the Oaks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
