Basketball Recap: Kailee Wooten Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Cedar Grove

North Clayton won the last time they faced Cedar Grove and things went their way on Tuesday too. The North Clayton Eagles came out on top against the Cedar Grove Saints by a score of 61-51.

North Clayton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kailee Wooten out in front who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 boards. Wooten has become a key player for North Clayton: the team is undefeated when she posts at least ten rebounds, but 4-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Shiphard Oglesby, who went 8 of 16 to rack up 20 points along with seven boards and four steals.

North Clayton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Cedar Grove's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was F Hart, who posted 22 points. That was a full 43.1% of Cedar Grove's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. M. McCutcheon was another key player, putting up 11 points and four blocks.

North Clayton's record is now 9-11. As for Cedar Grove, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-11.

North Clayton has already played their next matchup, a 31-23 victory against Mt. Zion on the 31st. As for Cedar Grove, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 51-45 win against Douglass on the 31st.
