Softball Game Preview: South Gibson Hornets vs. University School of Jackson Bruins

The South Gibson Hornets will head out to square off against the University School of Jackson Bruins at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Gibson will be strutting in after a win while University School of Jackson will be coming in after a loss.

South Gibson had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Munford on Monday. South Gibson put the hurt on Munford with a sharp 14-1 victory. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, University School of Jackson started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Chester County. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 11-5 to the Eagles, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

University School of Jackson saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kinsley Brady, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

University School of Jackson's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for South Gibson, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

South Gibson skirted past University School of Jackson 8-7 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Gibson since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
