Recap: Gloucester City Lions vs. Eastern Vikings
On Sunday, Gloucester City took a serious blow against Eastern, falling 85-49. While losing is never fun, Gloucester City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 291st, while Eastern is ranked 19th).
Gloucester City's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jake Smith, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds, and Ryan James who scored 11 points along with two steals. Smith hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kadon Harris, who scored six points.
Gloucester City's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-12. As for Eastern, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 23-3.
Gloucester City will head out on the road to face off against Sterling at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Eastern does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
