Baseball Game Preview: Hermitage Panthers vs. Thomas Jefferson Vikings

Hermitage has gone a perfect 5-0 against Thomas Jefferson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.

Hermitage's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Meadowbrook as they made off with an 11-0 victory. The contest marked the Panthers' most dominant win of the season.

Hayden Harris made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one triple. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Hermitage got a massive performance out of Adrian Hernandez, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two runs gave Hernandez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Davis, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Hermitage was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Thomas Jefferson and Richmond High School for the Arts, and Thomas Jefferson kept the tradition alive. The Vikings put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 14-0 victory on Wednesday. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by nine runs or more this season.

Hermitage's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-9. As for Thomas Jefferson, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

Everything went Hermitage's way against Thomas Jefferson when the teams last played back in April of 2019, as Hermitage made off with a 16-4 win. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
