Jordan (Sandy, Utah) upset
Alta (Sandy, Utah) 36-24 after a strong game from
Clay Moss, who rushed for four touchdowns. Thanks to the stand out performance the junior now has eight touchdowns on the season.
The Beetdiggers were up 20-17 at the half after taking the lead on a Moss touchdown run in the second quarter.
Jordan expanded its lead to 12 points entering the fourth quarter. JHS scored two times in the third, including once on a field goal by
Jeffrey Timothy.
The loss snapped the Hawks' 4-game winning streak.
Alta's
Chipper Lucero was the standout player for his team. The junior quarterback threw three touchdowns. His performance brought his touchdown total to five on the year.
The Beetdiggers got revenge for last year's 21-14 loss to AHS with the victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for Alta, which notched a 19-7 victory over Riverton in its previous outing.
Jordan (4-0) goes up against Copper Hills in a 5A Region 3 game matchup next week, while Alta (4-1) locks horns with Brighton also in a 5A Region 3 game.
