Softball Recap: Northern Cambria Drops Highest Score of Season Against Blacklick Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northern Cambria). They put the hurt on the Blacklick Valley Vikings with a sharp 18-8 win on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Colts considering their two-run performance the match before.

Julia Mitory made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Ava Messina was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Braelyn Pattison, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Northern Cambria was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

With the victory, Northern Cambria broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-11. As for Blacklick Valley, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-14.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Northern Cambria beat the Vikings by a score of 22-7 later that day.
