Basketball Recap: iMater Charter Comes Up Short

IMater Charter played a tough contest on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 78-39 loss at the hands of the Hialeah Gardens Gladiators. The Knights have struggled against the Gladiators recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

IMater Charter's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alain Alvarez, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 16 points. Alvarez's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Kevin Hernandez was another key player, putting up eight points.

Hialeah Gardens was led to victory by Sean Leon and Eduardo Hernandez. Leon posted 20 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, while Eduardo had 28 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Hernandez continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hamlet Rodriguez, who put up ten points along with seven rebounds and six assists.

IMater Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Hialeah Gardens, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-6.

IMater Charter didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 69-46 win against International Studies on the 9th. As for Hialeah Gardens, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 40-35 victory against Killian on the 9th.
