Softball Recap: Monta Vista Matadors vs. MacDonald Condor

Monta Vista extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 25 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-14 in the process. They lost 24-8 to the MacDonald Condor. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Condor this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-4 back in April.

Kayla Kampp made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three runs and two doubles.

As for MacDonald, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-11. That looming 24-8 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

On MacDonald's side, Ileyah Sanchez was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Sanchez has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kyleena Stone was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maddie Pabilona, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

As of now, neither Monta Vista nor MacDonald have any future games scheduled.
