Football Game Preview: Ellison Eagles vs. Randle Lions + How To Watch

The Ellison Eagles will square off against the Randle Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Ellison is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past University 60-23 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

A big part of Ellison's victory came down to the chemistry between Marlyn Smith and his top target Kae'Andre Sayles. Smith threw for 340 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.4% of his passes while Sayles picked up 181 receiving yards and three TDs. The dominant performance also gave Smith a new career-high in passer rating (150.9). Evan Dowling helped Smith out on the ground, rushing for 51 yards and one score, while also picking up 40 receiving yards.

Ellison didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Marc Ealy and Diondre Bell. Bell has become a key player for Ellison: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least one interception, but 3-4 otherwise.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Randle against Lamar Consolidated on Saturday as the team secured a 56-7 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Lions' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Mustangs are ranked 871st).

One reason for the win was Randle's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Camron Hypolite refused to say out of the backfield, picking up two sacks all by himself.

Randle's victory bumped their record up to 10-0. As for Ellison, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

The upcoming game will be a clash of competing strengths. Ellison has relied on air attacks this season and has averaged 289.6 passing yards per game. Randle, on the other hand, has relied on a stout run game: they average 278.7 rushing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Thursday? There's only one way to find out.
