Preview: Plattsburgh Hornets vs. AuSable Valley Patriots
Plattsburgh is on a three-game streak of home losses, AuSable Valley a seven-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Plattsburgh Hornets will take on the AuSable Valley Patriots at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Plattsburgh pushed their score all the way to 34 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 41-34 to Canton.
Plattsburgh's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Dominic Deangelo, who picked up 194 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and Daniel Hartmann who threw for 231 yards and three touchdowns. Deangelo was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 69 yards.
Meanwhile, AuSable Valley fell victim to Saranac's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Chiefs at home and fell 48-0. While losing is never fun, AuSable Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 468th, while Saranac is ranked 138th).
Plattsburgh's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. AuSable Valley has not been sharp this season, as they've lost six of their first seven contests, which leaves them at a 1-6 record this season.
Plattsburgh came up short against AuSable Valley when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 14-6. Will Plattsburgh have more luck at home instead of on the road?
