Baseball Game Preview: Gilroy Mustangs vs. Oak Grove Eagles

For the second straight game, Gilroy will face off against Oak Grove. The Mustangs will challenge the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Gilroy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

On Wednesday, Gilroy needed a bit of extra time to put away Oak Grove. They had just enough and edged out the Eagles 10-9. The high-scoring effort was just what the Mustangs needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Mitchell Friebel made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Friebel was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayson Quezada, who went 4-for-6 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brennan Neander, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Gilroy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Oak Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Gilroy, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 9-6.
