Baseball Game Preview: Broughton Capitals vs. Enloe Eagles

For the second straight game, Broughton will face off against Enloe. The Capitals will head out to take on the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Broughton took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Enloe a 10-0 shutout. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Capitals as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Brady Hubbell looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Weston Rhem was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Vannoy, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Broughton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Broughton's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Enloe, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
