Preview: Pinecrest Patriots vs. South Garner Titans
The Pinecrest Patriots will look to defend their home field on Friday against the South Garner Titans at 7:30 p.m. Pinecrest will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
Pinecrest put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 60-3 victory over Union Pines. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-3.
Pinecrest's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zymire Spencer, who rushed for 163 yards on only 12 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaydon Kounkel, who rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries.
Another reason for the win was Pinecrest's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Union Pines' QB won't forget William Miller anytime soon given Miller sacked him four times.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 31 points the game before, South Garner were a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They were the victim of a tough 29-9 defeat at the hands of Southeast Raleigh.
Pinecrest's victory was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 10-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.3 points per game. As for South Garner, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
