Concord has gone a perfect 3-0 against Red Lion Christian Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Raiders will host the Lions at 3:45 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Concord 3.6, Red Lion Christian Academy 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Concord is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Delaware's top teams: Newark Charter School, who was ranked 16th at the time (Concord was ranked 23rd). The Raiders lost 6-0 to the Patriots on Monday. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Raiders were not able to get on the board.
Meanwhile, Red Lion Christian Academy had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They never let the Dragons get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Lions have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Dom Liguori and Brayden Redmond made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Liguori tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Redmond struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. At bat, Liguori went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Redmond went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that Liguori has hit this season.
In other batting news, Chandler Smith was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Fitzgerald, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one stolen base.
Red Lion Christian Academy's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2. As for Concord, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-6.
Concord skirted past Red Lion Christian Academy 4-2 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
