Baseball Game Preview: Manchester Squires vs. Lewis Cass Kings

The Manchester Squires will face off against the Lewis Cass Kings at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Manchester is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Manchester turned things around against Whitko on Monday. They never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. Considering the Squires have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Harper Sturtsman's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks. Manchester is 3-1 when Sturtsman allows two or fewer hits, but 7-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Evan Estep was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Dallas Martin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Manchester kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three games, Lewis Cass finally came back down to earth on Monday. They fell 5-2 to Northfield.

Manchester's win bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Lewis Cass, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-9.

Manchester took their victory against Lewis Cass in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 7-0 score. Do the Squires have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Kings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
