Recap: Bay Area Christian Broncos vs. Holy Cross Knights
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Bay Area Christian Broncos, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a serious blow against Holy Cross on Friday, falling 66-6. Having soared to a lofty 64 points in the game before, Bay Area Christian couldn't push the score so high this time.
Gibby Alvarado looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 170 yards and four touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes, and also punching in a rushing scores. Marco Gomez also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Bay Area Christian's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 11-0 Northside Lions Sports Association and 8-3 Cypress Christian (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 78.6% over those games). As for Holy Cross, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Bay Area Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Holy Cross will square off against Cypress Christian at 7:00 p.m. on November 25th. Cypress Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
