Basketball Recap: Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame Comes Up Short

Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 50-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wilbur-Creston-Keller Wildcats. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 51-33 two weeks ago.

Despite the defeat, Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Annelise Curran posted 32 points. That was a full 78% of Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points.

Brystal Neilsen was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 14 boards for Wilbur-Creston-Keller. Neilsen has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times she's played. Sina Nelson was another key player, putting up six points and eight boards.

Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Wilbur-Creston-Keller, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.

Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 60-41 defeat against Almira-Coulee-Hartline on the 25th. As for Wilbur-Creston-Keller, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 68-18 win against Mary Walker on the 25th.
