Basketball Recap: Wray Eagles vs. Fort Morgan Mustangs
If Wray was feeling good fresh off their 65-39 takedown of Akron on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles fell 59-53 to the Fort Morgan Mustangs on Thursday.
Fort Morgan got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cooper Chisum out in front who went 7-for-11 on his way to 20 points. What's more, Chisum also posted a 50% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January of 2025. JJ Marquez was another key player, shooting 41% from the field to rack up 20 points and six steals.
Wray has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Fort Morgan, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-7.
Coincidentally, Wray and Fort Morgan will both be playing Platte Valley the next time they take the court. The Eagles will head out to face the Broncos at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Mustangs will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
