Baseball Recap: Etiwanda Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Etiwanda walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Notre Dame (SO) Knights on Friday as they made off with an 11-5 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Etiwanda got a great performance from Michael Aleman as he pitched 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Aleman also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Eagles are 5-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 10-11-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Lj Roellig was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Etiwanda is 4-0-1 when Roellig posts two or more runs, but 11-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Angel Mejia, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

Etiwanda lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in February.

Etiwanda's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-12-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Notre Dame (SO), they moved to 15-14 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Etiwanda will challenge Gahr at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 3.6, the Gladiators 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Notre Dame (SO) does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
