Baseball Game Preview: Leo Lions vs. Providence Catholic Celtics

The Leo Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Providence Catholic Celtics at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Leo will head out to face Providence Catholic after giving up their first home loss of the season on Monday. The Lions lost 22-2 to Brother Rice. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Leo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derrick Davis III, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Davis III also put up two doubles, which were his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Providence Catholic faced Minooka in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Celtics blew past the Indians 12-4. The win was nothing new for the Celtics as they're now sitting on four straight.

Providence Catholic's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Leo, they now have a losing record of 4-5-1.

Leo might still be hurting after the 20-0 defeat they got from Providence Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
