Softball Recap: East Hardy Comes Up Short

East Hardy had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 1-5 to make it four. They fell just short of the Berkeley Springs Indians by a score of 8-7. The Cougars were not able to make up for their loss to the Indians from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Brooke Moyers put in work while hitting and pitching. She tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Moyers was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those doubles were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Gracie Heishman was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Addison Armentrout, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.

As for Berkeley Springs, with the win, they broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since April 16, 2024.

On Berkeley Springs' side, Alaira Harrington spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Scotlyn Forney, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Layla Parsell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

East Hardy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 10-6 defeat against Pendleton County on the 14th. Berkeley Springs has also already played their next contest (against Martinsburg), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
