Basketball Recap: Becton Comes Up Short

Becton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 75-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of the New Milford Knights. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 71-66 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

New Milford was led to victory by Luis Placido and Jake Johnson. Placido almost dropped a double-double with 29 points and nine boards, while Johnson dropped a double-double with 21 points and 17 rebounds. Placido's evening made it 11 games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dariel Liranzo, who posted 18 points.

Becton's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for New Milford, their win bumped their record up to 15-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Becton will head out to challenge Weequahic at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for New Milford, they will head out on the road to square off against Dumont at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
