It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Calhoun Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Jefferson Davis Academy Raiders, sneaking past 4-3. The Cavaliers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Raiders, too.

Joseph Lyons and Chase Strickland made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Lyons pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Strickland pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Lyons scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Strickland scored a run and stole a base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Crews Felder, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Calhoun Academy now has a winning record of 2-1.

Calhoun Academy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-3 loss against Hammond on the 28th. As for Jefferson Davis Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 9-3 defeat against Calhoun Academy on the 6th.
