Softball Recap: Scotts Valley's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Scotts Valley extended their winning streak to five on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 14-5-1 in the process. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Aptos Mariners, sneaking past 5-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Sofie Seese spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Taylor Wilson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazzy Doubek, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

As for Aptos, they moved to 12-6 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since March 25th.

On Aptos' side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lilly Mcgee, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Another was Kailani Aguayo, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Scotts Valley is set to take on their familiar foe Soquel at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in the Falcons' favor as the squad sits on eight straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while the Knights have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Aptos will face off against rival San Lorenzo Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
