Volleyball Recap: Clay-Battelle Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Clay-Battelle, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They skirted past the Gilmer County Titans 2-1. For the Cee-Bees, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 victory the Titans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2022.

Clay-Battelle had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-21, 17-15.

Ginger Gross paced Clay-Battelle's offense, picking up 11 kills. Gross got some help from Maggie Lemley and her 24 assists. Nevaeh St.Clair controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Clay-Battelle now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Gilmer County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Coincidentally, Clay-Battelle and Gilmer County will both be playing Magnolia the next time they take the court. The Titans will host the Blue Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Cee-Bees will play them later in the day, at 7:30 p.m.
