B District 1 (8 Man) recap October 22, 2013

Pond Creek-Hunter extended the longest winning streak in B District 1 (8 Man) this week by beating Merritt, 56-8. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.

Waukomis made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 518 from 624. The improvement was largely due to a 74-48 victory over Covington-Douglas last week.

Connor Nunley was a beast in the backfield as the Wildcats lost to the Chiefs.

Nunley provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Covington-Douglas lost to Waukomis. Nunley's key target this week was Dylan Daugherty, who caught 5 passes for 89 yards.

Nunley was the best running back in the league this week. In 32 carries, he ran for 301 yards as Brian Smith's team fell to Mike Felder's team. Daugherty also contributed to the rushing game with 52 yards on the ground.

The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between the Oilers and Laverne. Merritt enters the game ranked 13th in the state, while the Tigers ranks first.
