Basketball Recap: Mount Miguel Matadors vs. Central Spartans

Mount Miguel lost against Central back in December of 2019 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mount Miguel Matadors fell just short of the Central Spartans by a score of 48-46.

Despite the loss, Mount Miguel still got an impressive performance from Jamell Willey, who went 7 for 16 on his way to 14 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Trae Williams, who posted nine points and six rebounds.

Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was James Tovar, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 17 points. Tovar's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Daimaggio Wyatt was another key player, putting up 12 points and seven rebounds.

Mount Miguel's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Central, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 9-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Miguel will venture away from home to square off against Steele Canyon at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Central, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Orange Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
