Baseball Recap: Bunnell Takes a Loss

Bunnell extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 8-8 in the process. They lost 11-0 to the Masuk Panthers. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Masuk, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-7. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the contest before.

For Masuk's part, Connor Fulchino was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over six innings pitched. Fulchino has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Steven Curtin, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Ethan Fonck was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Coming up, Bunnell will square off against New Milford at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Masuk, they will challenge Kolbe-Cathedral at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
