Baseball Game Preview: Glide Wildcats vs. Oakland Oakers

Glide has gone 8-1 against Oakland recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Wildcats will venture away from home to face off against the Oakers at 12:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

It was a proper cat-fight when Glide faced off against Cottage Grove on Friday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Lions by a score of 3-2. The matchup marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Oakland came up short against Umpqua Valley Christian on Friday, falling 18-1.

Oakland saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Fullerton, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. That hit marked the first that Fullerton got this season.

Oakland's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-5. Those home losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Glide, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Glide was able to grind out a solid win over Oakland in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, winning 10-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
