Basketball Preview: Asheville Christian Academy Lions vs. Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Eagles
Asheville Christian Academy has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Eagles at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Asheville Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over the Blue Devils, taking the game 54-42.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Asheville Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rebekah Bass, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bass has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Reece Shuman, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
In what's become a running theme this season, Rabun Gap-Nacoochee gave their fans yet another huge victory on Saturday. They breezed by Gray Collegiate Academy at home to the tune of 66-30. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Rabun Gap-Nacoochee had established a 27 point advantage.
Asheville Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-11 record this season. As for Rabun Gap-Nacoochee, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-9.
Asheville Christian Academy suffered a grim 55-33 defeat to the Eagles in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Asheville Christian Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
