Basketball Recap: Olympus Comes Up Short

If Olympus was feeling good fresh off their 53-17 takedown of Highland last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Olympus Titans fell 47-39 to the Brighton Bengals on Tuesday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 66-36 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Olympus lost, don't look at Joss Baker. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 boards. Baker is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 24 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Tessa Cromar, who posted eight points and six boards.

Brighton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sophie Nielsen, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most boards Nielsen has posted since back in November of 2024. Charlotte Oneal was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds.

Olympus' loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Brighton, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Alta the next time they take the court. Olympus will host Alta at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Brighton will host them at 7:00 p.m. on February 11th.
